Julie & Michael Freeman Workshop

It was a fabulous 3-day workshop with Julie and Michael Freeman from New Zealand. Our happy PSSC participants learned how to paint hyper-realistic animals in pastel, and they knocked it out of the park! Julie and Michael were fantastic instructors, sharing their knowledge and expertise in using pastel and pastel pencils on Pastelmat, a very surprising and magical surface! We practiced painting many different textures, including shaggy dog fur, iridescent feathers, sheep’s wool and a cat’s eye. Then some worked on their own reference photos. The talent in the room blew us away! This is a beautiful pastel genre, and we waited nearly five years for this dynamic couple to be able to reach the States to teach us. We are so grateful for our new skills!
