This meeting will feature a demo by David Fairrington and optional March of the Mentors sessions by various artists! We hope you will join us in person! If you live out of the area, we are also connecting our members by Zoom. 

Time: 9:30 a.m. -- Coffee/Refreshments, Socializing
10 a.m. to 12 Noon -- Business Meeting/Demo
12 Noon - 1 p.m. -- Bring lunch or order in
1 - 4 p.m. -- March of the Mentors (Cost $40)

The meeting will feature a demo by award-winning artist David Fairrington, who has had a long, illustrious artistic career, primarily as a portrait artist, but also a painter of landscapes, still life, and western art in a range of styles. Participants in the meeting can watch him demonstrate and ask questions.

David Fairrington is an American artist who paints a variety of subjects including portraits, landscapes, still life, and western art. He has a B.A. in advertising art and design from Texas Tech University, and attended the San Francisco Art Institute. While serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, Fairrington volunteered for the Army’s Vietnam Combat Artist Program. The art completed by Fairrington while in Vietnam is now in the permanent US Army Art collection which is maintained by the United States Army Center of Military History in Washington, D.C.

In 1978, Fairrington moved to Los Angles CA and opened a small design studio, New York West, that produced concept and design graphics for 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Fairrington was named "Master Artist" by International Artist Magazine in 2001, and was chosen by the U.S. government as one of the official portrait artists for employees of The Pentagon and other government agencies. He also paints dancers from ballet companies including School of American Ballet and New York City Ballet.

David has taught design at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and has taught drawing at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. He currently teaches painting and life drawing at the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs, CA.
